Madhubani Painting
Madhubani Painting, also referred to as Mithila Art (as it flourishes in the Mithila region of Bihar), is characterized by line drawings filled in by bright colours and contrasts or patterns. This style of painting has been traditionally done by the women of the region, though today men are also involved to meet the demand.
Sujuni
Sujuni is the word that Bihari women use for a running stitch embroidery on layered cloth, made as a quilt to give family members on the occasion of weddings or births. Women traditionally made sujuni in their homes, layering worn-out old saris and stitching them with coloured threads and embroidering into them scenes from their village life.
