They have done intensive field study in and around North Cacher Hills Districts presently known as Dimahassao Distrct of Assam. The Dimasas are one of the culturally rich ethnic groups of North Eastern Region of India. Mostly, they live in the glens and valleys of the lofty North Cacher Hills of the Region.
Prakash Govind Satpute is a practitioner of traditional footwear of 'Kolhapur'. He specializes in the Leather work of Kolhapuri Payatan/ Chappal making. According to him, this ICH involves knowledge of leather processing, stitching/sewing, a process that can be traced back to ancient times.
